The museum regularly receives donations from Pratt & Whitney, Sikorsky, Raytheon, and Kaman, and this propeller is believed to have been an experimental aircraft propeller or helicopter rotor developed by one of these leading aerospace companies in the 1940s or 1950s.
A key feature of this propeller is the stamped marking on the brass part of hub: "EXP USE ONLY," confirming its experimental status. Other stampings on the hub and blades include:
This propeller has undergone a complete transformation, with all original internal parts removed, leaving only the hub and blades intact. The entire piece has been completely disassembled, cleaned, and sanded, then high polished to a high-mirror aluminum finish. A custom dome spinner cap was added to enhance its sleek, futuristic look.
